Pan-Baked Pears

Culinary Tools:

  • 1-quart Milk Warmer
  • Paring Knife
  • 1-quart Mixing Bowl
  • 10½-inch Skillet with Cover

Cooking time: 25 minutes   Yield: 4 servings

Pears:

  • 4 large pears
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tablespoon cinnamon

Syrup:

  • ½ cup Port wine
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 1 ½ tablespoons mint, chopped

Procedure:

In the 1-quart Milk Warmer, add Port wine and orange juice; cook at medium heat for 10 minutes or until syrup. Stir in mint; set aside.

With the Paring Knife, peel the pears and leave the stem ends intact. In the 1-quart Mixing Bowl, mix 1/8  cup sugar and cinnamon. Arrange pears in the 10½-inch Skillet and add one cup water; sprinkle fruits with sugar and cinnamon mixture. Cover the skillet and leave the Redy-cook valve open. Cook over medium heat until the valve whistles. Close the valve and reduce heat to low. Cook pears for ten more minutes or until tender. Let stand for 10 minutes. Sprinkle syrup over cooked pears.
