Mashed Ghosts

Culinary Tools:

  • Parking Knife
  • Chef’s Knife
  • 8-Quart Dutch Oven with Cover
  • Junior Steamer/Colander
  • 1-Quart Milk Warmer
  • Round Slotted Masher

Ingredients:

  • 4 peeled potatoes, cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup skim milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and Black Pepper to taste

Procedure:

Peel potatoes with the Paring Knife and cut them into four pieces using the Chef’s Knife.  Place the potatoes in the 8-quart Dutch Oven and add 1 cup of water.  Place lid on the Dutch Oven with Redy-cook valve closed; cook at medium heat for 25 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.

Drain remaining liquid using the Junior Steamer/Colander.  In the 1-quart Milk Warmer, heat up the milk and butter at low heat for 5 minutes.  Add the heated milk mixture to the potatoes and mash; season to taste.

Using a pastry piping bag make ghost shapes.  You can use any vegetable you love to make the faces.

Chef’s Note:  Remember our recipes only serve 2 people.  If you’re going to have guests over for a Halloween Party, make sure you double or triple the recipe!
