Italian-Style Panini

Culinary Tools: Round Grill, Square Griddle, Paring Knife


  • 4 Slices whole wheat bread
  • 2 Tablespoons low-fat cream cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 6 ounces sliced roast beef (deli-style)
  • ½ cup sliced strawberries
  • 1 cup red leaf lettuce



Take two slices of bread and spread 1  tablespoon of cream cheese on the first slice, and ½ tablespoon of mustard of the second one.  On the same slice, place 3 ounces of roast beef, ½ cup sliced strawberries and ½ cup red leaf lettuce; top with the other bread slice.  Repeat for second sandwich.

Preheat the Round Grill at low temperature for 4 minutes; place both sandwiches on the grill.  Place Square Griddle on top of the sandwiches, let cook for 10 minutes or until bottom side is golden brown.  Remove the Square Griddle and flip the sandwiches; place griddle back on top of the sandwiches and cook for another 10 minutes or  until golden brown.  Serve HOT!

Chef’s Note: For that extra bit of flavor, add a few sliced of red onion.
